Dallas Sends Seth Curry, Grant Williams, and a 2027 First-Round Pick to Washington
DALLAS (February 8, 2023) - The Dallas Mavericks have acquired center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards in exchange for guard Seth Curry, forward Grant Williams, and a top-two protected 2027 first-round pick, the team announced today.
Gafford, 27, is averaging 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game for the Wizards this season. He has started 46 games for Washington and has shot 66.1% from the field.
The 6-foot-11 center will provide the Mavericks with a much-needed interior presence. Dallas has struggled defensively in recent weeks, ranking near the bottom of the league in both points allowed and field goal percentage defense.
Curry, 32, is averaging 8.8 points per game for the Mavericks this season. He is shooting 41.1% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range.
Williams, 24, is averaging 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Mavericks this season. He is shooting 49.4% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range.
The Mavericks are currently 28-26 this season and are seventh in the Western Conference standings.
